Designing Study Programmes That Prepare for Adulthood

We are not for profit organisation working to enable people at risk of exclusion, due to age or disability, to live the life they choose.NDTi has been working with communities, government, health and social care professionals for 25 years to ensure that people with disabilities of all ages are given choice and control over their own lives. Our work always focuses on wider life outcomes. We want disabled and older people to enjoy the same life course and opportunities as everyone else – education, paid work, a place of their own, fulfilling personal relationships and a chance to contribute to their communities.Our team provide decision makers with the evidence, skills, knowledge and courage to make transformational change happen. We work to ensure that people who risk being excluded have the same opportunities as everyone else.

National Development Team for Inclusion (NDTi)

The purpose of these regional events is to bring schools and colleges together to better understand how they can work co-operatively to support young people into adulthood.
 They will do this by:
 • developing an awareness of the role that each provider plays in helping young people with SEND to prepare for adulthood; • facilitating local schools and colleges to develop partnerships that provide a joined-up post-16 education pathway; • demonstrating good practice in producing outcomes based on young people’s aspirations; • sharing examples of outcome focused curriculum developments.
Programme to include:
 • Preparing for Adulthood – Aspirations, outcomes and pathways • Partnership working across schools and colleges • Progress on designing the post-16 curriculum:      Careers advice      Study programmes and supported internships      Engagement and participation of young people
 The events are mainly for special schools, mainstream schools, colleges. Local authorities are also welcome as are families and young people.
