Develop Your Sketchbook Practice Workshop
Through guided experimentation and play, develop a regular sketchbook habit, to support your creative practice or for your creative freedom.
A sketchbook can be many things but often comes with pressure. A pressure for perfection rather than expression and an expectation that it should look a particular way. This can prevent us from ever developing a regular sketchbook habit that supports our creative practice or restricts our enjoyment of creating a sketchbook for our own creative freedom.
Through experimentation and play, these workshops will provide strategies to combat the fear of the blank page and encourage personal expression, by using mixed media grounds, different mark making techniques with various materials, using pattern to find form and the introduction of text, while working from direct observation and photographic references.
Whether you attend all 11 summer sessions or individual sessions, the workshops are designed to help you find your unique approach to the sketchbook and form a key part of developing your own visual language.
Each week there will be a different focus, although there will be scope to work from your own starting point in each session.
Suitable for all abilities. All materials supplied except sketchbook.
Please bring own sketchbook.
