Developing a consistent approach to community benefits

Developing a consistent approach to community benefits

Overview

Beginner and advanced community benefits and social value workshops for companies appointed to SPA solutions.

Embedding social value and delivering community benefits is now a fundamental part of public sector procurement, but we know from conversations with our appointed companies that it can still feel unclear or difficult to apply in practice. Too often, discussions around community benefits happen late in the process, meaning opportunities to deliver meaningful local impact are missed.

To support our appointed companies, we are hosting two workshops, tailored to meet different levels of experience and confidence. This allows you to choose the session that best reflects where your business is now – whether you’re building your understanding or looking to strengthen what you already deliver.

The workshops will be delivered by Amanda Gauld, Group Social Value Advisor for Scotland and Heather O’Donnell, Senior Technical Support Manager.

Workshop 1

Tuesday 12th May, 9:30am – 11:30am - Beginner Workshop

The first workshop is aimed towards companies that would benefit from a basic introductory session. You can expect to learn about the fundamentals of social value, understand the purpose and legislation and demonstrate good practices.

This session will focus on:

  • Understanding key concepts
  • Providing a brief legislative overview
  • Explaining industry and framework requirements
  • How organisations can embed social value and community benefits within tendering and delivery processes to maximise outcomes

Workshop 2

Tuesday 12th May, 1:00pm – 3:00pm - Advanced Workshop

The second workshop is for companies experienced in delivering social value and community benefits, as well as being comfortable having these conversations with public sector partners. This workshop will focus on diving deeper beyond the basics of applying social value in procurement.

This session will focus on:

  • Advanced approaches and strategies
  • Best practice examples
  • Enhancing impact and delivery of social value commitments

Both workshops are free to join and will be held at our Livingston office.
