Mechanics of trauma and the nervous system

Exploration into autonomic nervous system and the polyvagal system. How and why its important when working with clients.

Co-valency

Looking at the mechanisms of biological co-regulation and why understanding them is important.

How trauma may present in clients

Activation, withdrawal and dysregulation. Use of language both verbal and nonverbal.

Developing trauma tools in practice

Simple tools to add to your practice to keep you and clients safe.

Outline

This course introduces theoretical and practical principles of how trauma effects physical and emotional health. The course is designed to offer a deeper understanding of how to recognise trauma when it is present in clients.

The course will offer the learner the beginning path into a new model of health while using the latest developmental, psycho-emotional and neurological research set out in a learner friendly and accessible way.

The course is suitable for anyone working in health and healthcare, including nurses, acupuncturists, osteopaths, massage therapists, chiropractors, psychotherapists, movement therapists, physiotherapists, yoga teachers, cranio therapists, rolfers, dentists, medical doctors, personal trainers, etc…
