Drawing on research, this webinar will explore how a 'sentence-focused' writing curriculum can secure success for all pupils.

In this webinar, Jess Rennie and Andrew Percival from Stanley Road Primary School in Oldham will describe how they have developed a 'sentence-focused' writing curriculum which takes into account what we know about<ul><li>cognitive science and how learning happens</li><li>explicit teaching approaches</li><li>the importance of disciplinary literacy</li><li>curriculum design theory.</li></ul>This approach aims to build pupils' automaticity with sentence construction as a key component of learning to write well. The development of the writing curriculum has been informed by Ofsted's Research Review, The Writing Revolution, and the work of Alex Quigley, Daisy Christodoulou and Step Academy Trust.T﻿he session will explore the thinking behind this new writing curriculum, an explanation of how it works and examples of what this looks like in the classroom.P﻿lease Note: Attendees will receive a digital pack of resources and a recording of the webinar.
