Education Scotland, Digital Learning Team

A series of 1 hour workshops to support educators with block based coding (Scratch) and web development (HTML and CSS)

Join us for one or more computing science skill building sessions every Tuesday at 4pm for 6 weeks from 10th January.This first set of sessions are designed to support educators in Scotland build their own knowledge and confidence in aspects of Computing Science including:<ul><li>Coding with Scratch to create animations, simulations and games (weeks 1-3)</li><li>Web Development with HTML and CSS (weeks 4-6)</li></ul>Each workshop will last 1 hour and include template resources and activities. These workshops will suit those who are / would like to offer Computing Science experiences in the BGE and would like support in developing their understanding of these topics.1. Tuesday 10th JanuaryAnimating with Scratch - learn how Scratch can be used to bring a story/topic to life using code2. Tuesday 17th JanuaryCreating interactions with Scratch - learn how to code simple programs that interact with the user (eg quizzes)3. Tuesday 24th JanuaryCreating Games with Scratch - create simple games with Scratch, building on skills and knowledge from the two previous sessions.4. Tuesday 31st JanuaryBuild a simple web page that includes text, media and links with HTML and CSS5. Tuesday 7th FebruaryLearn to style web pages using cascading style sheets6. Tuesday 14th FebruaryCreate multi page websites, building on skills and knowledge from the two previous sessions.
