Developing digital skills in rural communities

<H2><SPAN>Join us at a learning event for partners wanting to develop their practice in supporting essential digital skills in rural communities. </SPAN></H2>
<H2><SPAN>The event aims to share both local Lancashire experience, as well as provide a showcase for good practice from across the UK. </SPAN></H2>
<H2><SPAN>Participants in the event will explore the challenges and barriers of working in rural areas and participate in workshops designed to explore the provision of different models of digital skills support. </SPAN></H2>
<H2><SPAN>Rural communities have a higher than average proportion of older people who often lack digital skills, this has the potential effect of increasing social isolation for this group.</SPAN></H2>
<H2><SPAN>2</SPAN>2% of the rural workforce work from home and nearly 30% in England and 40% in Scotland of employees in rural areas work in micro-enterprises with implications for lower access to digital skills training. <A TARGET="_blank" TITLE="" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer"><SPAN CLASS="MsoFootnoteReference"><SPAN CLASS="MsoFootnoteReference">[1]</SPAN></SPAN></A></H2>
<H2><SPAN>The event is being organised as a collaboration between the Lancashire Digital Skills Partnership and the One Digital Community of Practice.</SPAN></H2>
