New Horizon Counselling was founded in 2018 by Tom Smithson, a registered therapist, supervisor, tutor and writer who specialises in working with the LGBTQIA+ community. Tom is passionate about supporting his clients mental health and self acceptance along with helping to educate other therapists in a range of education workshops. <h2>About these events:</h2>Private practice offers a number of benefits for therapists, both personally and professionally- getting it right, however, can take some time. Tom and Danielle have travelled the distance and managed to create thriving private practices within one year of qualifying as therapists. Three years on, and they want to share all they have learned, and pass on the gems and bombshells they wish they had known before setting off on the journey!These three workshops provide a realistic picture of the requirements to set up and maintain a successful private practice whilst being aware of some of the common setbacks practitioners face along the way. Record Keeping and Admin in Private Practice </h2>Record keeping and administration is not only essential for safeguarding in private practice, it can also be a crucial (and often overlooked) element of successful businesses. Data is fundamental in telling us what is working well and not working so well, so if you are not recording it, how will you know? This workshop has been created to help you learn how to work smart with your admin whilst keeping yourself and your clients safe. Tom will share tips and tricks he has used to maximise his practice growth through record keeping and data analysis in a time efficient way. Whether you are just starting out and want to explore the types of records you should be keeping, or if you have an established practice and want to use data to take things to the next level, this workshop has something for you. Tom has extensive knowledge and experience in private practice management and will be sharing his golden tips to help you get organised right from the get-go and save time. <h2>3.	Diversity, Trauma, Informed Practice &amp; Finding your Niche.</h2>How can I form therapeutic relationships with a diverse range of clients that last long enough to do the work? What does a ‘trauma informed’ practice actually look like and who does it benefit? Does having a specialism really make a difference?If you are anything like us, you will have asked yourself at least one of the above questions whilst on your private practice journey. Building and maintaining therapeutic relationships is at the heart of what we do as therapists - not only does this support clients to do the work safely, it helps us maintain our private practice and earn a living. In this workshop we take you through all the elements we believe constitute healthy therapeutic relationships with clients, leading to a thriving private practice that lasts! <h2>About Us: </h2>Tom is the founder and managing director of New Horizon Counselling™ Ltd. Tom works with adults in Croydon and online, specialising in working with the LGBTQ+ community. With qualifications in Counselling, Psychology, Media and Business Administration Tom has combined his knowledge to provide trainee and qualified Counsellors, Therapists and Psychotherapists with a workshop that will support you in starting or developing your own private practice. Danielle Bottone is the founder of JourneyOn Counselling and Therapeutic Services. Danielle is experienced in trauma informed therapy with adults and young people, with particular interest in intercultural therapy. She is passionate about encouraging realistic conversations about mental health and therapy, particularly in marginalised communities. In addition to managing a private practice, Danielle currently works for a Youth Offending Service supporting victims of serious youth violence. Danielle established a full private practice within one year on a part time basis, in addition to working for a local authority and being a mother.
