Development Conference 2026: Divided World, Shared Future
Join us in 2026 to tackle global challenges and build a united future. Free, open to all, and lunch is provided.
Join Us at the University of Worcester Development Conference 2026!
In an increasingly politically, socially and economically fragmented world, there is a growing sense of instability, reflected in the rise of nationalism, counter-globalisation, conflict and the dismantling of the post-war consensus on human rights. According to the recent UN 'Be Hope! report (2025):
"We live in a world that feels like it's teetering. We're surrounded...by signs of despair. Our trust in institutions and each other is eroding. Inequality is on the rise and democracy in retreat. Countries, communities and families are divided."
Within this context, our 2026 conference explores the following:
- How have these trends and issues emerged? How are they affecting sustainable global development outcomes?
- How can we address despondency and inertia over global development challenges?
- How can we convert hope into action?
- What needs to be one to enhance sustainability transitions and 'build pathways for a more sustainable future'?
Everyone is welcome! Admission is free, and lunch will be provided for all attendees.
