This a full day, face to face session at DEWSBURY HOSPITAL OAKWELL CENTRE.

The oakwell centre in near the Bronte birth centre - please follow signs.

Please report to reception on arrival.

The session will roughly run 10am - 4pm with a lunch break.

The content covered, will be the same as content in individual classes (classes 1-4) but gives you a chance to learn all in one day.

The session will be run by the Parent education midwives Sarah and Amy and for women and companions birthing at Mid Yorkshire Trust and will cover;


  • Labour and Birth.
  • Coping strategies, pain relief, induction of labour and interventions.
  • First few hours after birth, skin to skin, infant feeding and bonding.
  • Becoming a family and caring for baby, information about what happens following birth, realistic expectations of having a newborn.
  • Safe sleeping for baby and coping with crying.
  • Information about practical cares of baby, such as nappy changing and bathing.

There will be refreshment breaks and time for lunch so please bring something with you.


IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Please book only ONE ticket. This will admit you and ONE companion.

Spaces are limited, therefore please only book a place if you are certain that you can attend.

If you book and realise you cannot attend, please CANCEL your place via Eventbrite, this will allow someone else to book onto the session.

If you are not booked to have your baby at Pinderfields Hospital, do not book a ticket. This ticket will be cancelled if you are not having your baby at Pindefields hospital, as the spaces are limited.
