For the second time, BBSTEM has partnered with one of the most advanced scientific facilities in the world to provide opportunities for Black STEM individuals!About this EventBBSTEM has joined forces with Diamond Light Source to provide an opportunity for university students, recent graduates and professionals of an African or Caribbean heritage to attend a virtual workshop and learn about career opportunities.Diamond is the UK’s synchrotron light source. It works like a giant microscope, harnessing the power of electrons to produce powerful x-ray beams that scientists can use to study anything from fossils, to jet engines, to viruses and vaccines. Diamond’s pioneering capabilities are helping to keep the UK at the forefront of scientific research.Hosted online via Zoom, you will hear from employees from various areas of the business. Diamond will also be highlighting the STEM based early career opportunities including summer placements, graduate programmes, Postdoc programmes and other opportunities. They will be giving you the opportunity to learn more about their application processes, and you can also ask their recent Graduate Scientists and Engineers about their experiences. Essentially open to all!</li><li>Working or studying at a UK institution</li><li>Currently residing in the UK</li></ul>As this is an online event, you will need access to internet connection, a laptop or PC, as well as a webcam and microphone. To help you benefit from the networking opportunities on offer, you will be expected to have your video on during the interactive sessions.Spaces at this event are limited to 20 on a first-come, first-served basis. We ask that on the registration page, you submit a 100 word paragraph about your interest in Diamond Light Source and how this day will benefit your personal or professional development. Please also provide a reference contact, so we can further collaborate with your institutions.If you have registered but are unable to attend, please cancel your ticket through Eventbrite and email admin@bbstem.co.uk. We will have a waiting list available for those who are unable to register and will inform you with good notice if we are able to offer you a space. As a confirmation of your space, we will email you the details of the Zoom room along with the password.
