Established in 1978, Ffotogallery is the national development agency for photography and lens-based media in Wales.Our view is outward looking, with an exhibition programme featuring artists from Wales and the rest of the world. Ffotogallery seeks to widen its impact and influence through touring exhibitions, collaborations with other organisations and galleries, print and online publishing and an extensive education and outreach programme. Ffotogallery has an active policy of commissioning new work which, in particular, provides a vital support system to photographers in Wales, forms an ongoing record of culture in Wales, and reflects prevailing attitudes and developments in photography more generally.Ffotogallery is a not for profit company limited by guarantee and a registered charity, in receipt of annual funding from the Arts Council of Wales.

Join us for our official Diffusion 2019 Launch Party. An evening of celebration and art with some very special performances.  This special evening will celebrate rebel sounds and will involve music cut live with vintage recording devices. Kurt Laurenz Theinert’s Visual Piano featuring R.Seiliog. The visual piano is an instrument which makes it possible to create moving images in a space. It is unique and was conceived and developed by the photographer and light installation artist Kurt Laurenz Theinert in collaboration with the software designers Roland Blach and Philip Rahlenbeck. Using a MIDI-keyboard it is possible to generate varying graphic patterns which can be digitally projected onto one or more screens. These dynamic and immediate drawings in light are generated by pre-recorded clips, but every moment of the performance is being played and modulated live and in real time via the keyboard and pedals. The Bureau of Lost Culture - X-Ray Audio Live.  X-Ray Audio is an installation by The Bureau of Lost Culture, telling a story of cold war culture, bootleg technology and music as resistance. In the Soviet Union during the cold war era, the music people could listen to was ruthlessly controlled by the State. A huge amount of songs, Western and Russian, were banned for ideological reasons.  A daring underground community of bootleggers found an extraordinary and risky means to defy the censor by copying and distributing the forbidden jazz, rock 'n' roll and Russian music they loved – building recording machines and cutting their own records with used x-ray film.
