Event description
A free seminar for SMEs covering digital technology opportunities for increased sustainability and efficiency in construction projects

About this Event

A free one-day seminar aimed at small and medium sized contractors covering the opportunities that digital technology can create to increase sustainability and efficiency in a construction project.

Digital technology has been visible in sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing and retail for some time. However, the majority of construction firms still operate the same way they always have, tending to adopt to technological innovation at a slower rate. The resistance to change may be due to the breakneck pace at which new technologies develop. However, the future shift to digitise working practices is inevitable.

Businesses working in the built environment sector need to review their long-standing methods and recognise that old measures will soon be replaced by more digitised solutions. It’s not a now-or-never situation, rather the-sooner-the-better one. Digital technology could be the answer to many high profile global trends that are particularly driving the change, such as resource shortages, waste minimisation, carbon reduction and skills and labours shortages.

The construction industry is realising just how beneficial adaption of technology will be to business.

Join us for practical learning about how digital technology can support your business in all areas of operation. Areas we will cover include;

  • Construction management software
  • Building Information Modelling
  • Augmented and virtual reality
  • Analytics
  • Artificial intelligence and machine learning
  • Tablets and apps

The era of digitalisation has dawned with designers, contractors and their supply chains.

We will also share opportunities available to businesses in Scotland and how both Zero Waste Scotland and the Construction Scotland Innovation Centre can support you to take advantage of these opportunities and access support and funding.
