The Oxford Foundry is the University of Oxford's entrepreneurship centre. It aims to support all 24,000Oxford students in taking an entrepreneurial approach to their futures. It focuses on building technology skills and providing practical learning around entrepreneurship, as well as on the creation and support of new ventures.Universities are global influencers for purpose-led entrepreneurship. At Oxford, the Foundry is actively shaping and driving start-up culture and feeding into the UK and European entrepreneurial ecosystem, with ambition to play a critical role in its success.

Get Creative, Get Connected, Get Coding
In this Make Oxford session, we introduce the rapidly expanding world of the microcomputer. The UK is a global leader of this technology revolution.
What is a microcomputer? Why should you learn to use them? This session will introduce you to the rapidly expanding world of the microcomputer; a crucial tool in learning to code and prototype devices to achieve real world solutions. Understanding this small but powerful kit is essential learning.
The Micro:Bit team, led by its CTO Jonny Austin, will guide you through the principles of using their Micro:Bit, from your first ideas to being able to code a functioning device.
The first 20 participants will get a free Micro:Bit device to take home and start coding – these can be used in Session IV of the programme in the MakeOxford space.
*Please ensure to bring you laptops with you to the session*
Light refreshments will be provided
