A free, interactive workshop for anyone interested in exploring QGIS and digital mapping through practical group exercises.
This in-person session will introduce practical digital mapping skills and show how spatial data can support planning and place-based project work.
What you will explore
Using QGIS, a digital mapping tool for planning and spatial analysis, participants will work with place-based data to explore how maps can help us understand places more clearly.
You will look at how different layers of information can be brought together to reveal patterns, opportunities and challenges.
Experienced digital mappers are welcome to come along and use their preferred programme.
Why digital mapping matters
The workshop is not only about learning how to use a mapping tool. It is also about understanding how data can tell different stories depending on what we choose to measure, prioritise and visualise.
You will have the chance to test ideas and discuss findings with others.
Who should attend
This workshop is open to anyone who is interested in developing digital mapping skills.
It may be particularly useful for people working in, studying or volunteering around planning, spatial data, place-based projects or community-led planning.
You do not need to be a digital mapping expert to take part. The workshop will be friendly, practical and supportive, with opportunities to learn from others and build confidence.
CPD
The workshop can be counted towards your CPD.
Partnership
