Digital Prototyping for the Manufacturing Business
Thursday 14th May 2025 at Aura Centre, Bridgehead Business Park, Hessle 8:30am to 12:30pm
Background:
Digital Prototyping goes beyond creating product designs in 3D. It allows product development teams to assess the operation of moving parts, determine potential failures, and see how various components interact with subsystems. By simulating and validating the real-world performance of a product design digitally, manufacturers can reduce the number of physical prototypes needed, thus saving costs and time.
So, if you are struggling to choose the right prototyping method for your next product than this workshop has been created to assist you in moving forward.
Session 1`: Prototyping for Production: Your Guide to Smarter, Faster Product Development
The first session will be led by Nathan Gilbert, Director @ TechSyle Europe who will explore with you the pros and cons of each method used, providing real world product examples to prove insider tips to reduce cost and lead time.
This session will take you through the following key elements:
- FDM & SLA 3D printing
- CNC Machining
- Vacuum Casting
- Lost Wax Prototyping
- Injection Moulding using SLA printed tools.
Session 2: Accessible Innovation: Learn how to leverage University Research and Development Equipment/Expertise to de-risk and accelerate product development processes.
This introduction will be followed by session by Dr Brian Houston, University of Hull's Aura Innovation Centre
Join us for a guided tour of the University of Hull's Aura Innovation Centre to demystify the process of working with the breadth and depth of academic expertise within your local University to boost your research and development capabilities:
