Description

What is the role of the youth sector in supporting the development of digital skills for young people? This session will offer the opportunity to review the data that exists in terms of the digital skills gap, explore a range of developments underway, and explore options for the future.

In 2016, the Science and Technology Select Committee wrote a report which highlighted clear evidence "that the UK faces a digital skills crisis" which required further action. In 2018, this issue remains unresolved and, with the impact of Brexit becoming clearer, almost certainly worsening. This session will examine the role of the youth sector in supporting the development of digital skills for young people and offer the opportunity to review the data that exists in terms of the digital skills gap, consider a range of developments underway and explore options for the future.

Freeformers will also make a presentation on the plans for building the Future Workforce Partnership which aims “to be the biggest network of youth organisations that support and share, collaborate and celebrate each other to maximise our collective and individual missions.”
