Maribel Restaurant has teamed up with national charity, Sense, to host an exclusive ‘Dining in the Dark’ event for one night only. Taking place on Thursday 21 November, this is set to be a dining experience like no other; taking guests on a journey to awaken their senses.The first event of its kind in the city, this sees Maribel joining forces with Sense, an organisation dedicated to supporting the deafblind community and those living with complex disabilities. The restaurant has worked with the charity to craft a special menu, focusing on texture, smell and sounds; with all senses heightened as guests eat each course blindfolded. This unique culinary experience will encourage guests to explore their senses, without the usual visionary cues, totally changing the way they interpret taste. Sighted guides will be on hand to assist and will encouraged guests to use their imagination to discuss what they taste, smell and hear. Working in partnership with Sense, the ‘Dining in the Dark’ event aims to highlight the day-to-day difficulties facing people with sight loss. Sense supports thousands of people across the region suffering with visual impairment, through personalised support through their centres, holidays and short breaks, or in people’s own homes. With £15 amount of the ticket price going directly to Sense, ‘Dining in the Dark’ is an exciting event but with a vital message. Tickets are priced at £50 and will include a welcome drink, snack and three-course meal, with £15 from the ticket price going directly to Sense.
