Disability Awareness Training

This three-hour course will empower employees to be disability aware and disability confident. Disability is a protected charateristic against discrimination under The Equality Act 2010. Employers can also register as Disability Confident under a government scheme, which involves taking proactive steps to recruit, employ, and retain disabled talent. This course addresses both the compliance and cultural impacts of addressing disability proactively in the workplace, specifically intended to ensure managers and employees are disability aware in their ways of working. 
Learning Objectives 
<ul><li>Knowledge about what a disability is and how it can impact in the workplace. 
</li><li>An understanding of the myths and misconceptions of disability, and how to tackle these proactively in the workplace. 
</li><li>More thorough knowledge of the most common disabilities in the workplace including visual and hearing impairments, pain impairments, mental health conditions, autism, and learning disabilities (including dyslexia).
</li><li>Knowledge of best practice and case studies relevant to your organisation. 
</li><li>Proactive set of actions to take disability awareness forward in your organisation. 
</li></ul>Duration and Attendance
<ul><li>This course takes 6-hours with our professional, fully qualified, and experienced trainers. 
</li><li>It can be delivered in-house, online, or at one of our face-to-face sessions (subject to covid-19 restrictions). 
</li><li>To allow for effective group work and interaction, training is capped at 20 learners. </li><li>The course is fully tailored to employers specific needs for inhouse training, with tailored case studies and best practice examples for the online and face-to-face training (through a pre-course learner questionnaire). 
</li></ul>Certification
<ul><li>A range of methods are used to assess each candidate, including practicals and questioning (open and multiple-choice).
</li><li>On successful completion of the course, learners will receive a Disability Awareness Training Certificate. 
</li></ul>
