Come along to a free day of wonder, fun and discovery in central Bristol.

Get up close to the latest advances in medicine, law, theatre, engineering and much more through exciting hands-on activities, games and short talks.

Meet friendly researchers from the Universities of Bristol and Bath who are working on the most pressing questions of our time, from climate change and quantum computing to pandemics and AI. How do bats seek out food? Why do we feel disgust? What can a map of medieval Bristol tell us about our present day city? What do the latest robots have in common with octopuses? How can you print with Lego?

Find out the answers to these questions and many more at a day packed with entertaining activities, mind-expanding conversations and extraordinary experiences.

Please note:

This event takes place on the second floor of We The Curious, in the dedicated events space. A ticket to Discovery Day does not give entry to We The Curious’s permanent exhibition floors. Tickets for We The Curious can be purchased separately by visiting www.wethecurious.org

Practical information

Refreshments are available for purchase in the We The Curious cafe and in neighbouring Millenium Square. You are welcome to bring your own food and drink to consume at the event, and the open air terraces on the second floor will be available for you to enjoy if you need a pit stop, or just a quiet moment and a bit of fresh air.

A buggy park and unstaffed cloakroom will be available at the venue.

Back for another year, FUTURES promises to bigger and better than ever before! Across Bath, Bristol, Exeter and Plymouth, this festival of discovery will be taking place in September and October 2025.

For FUTURES we are working right across the South West, with researchers from the University of Bath, Bath Spa University, University of Bristol, University of Exeter and University of Plymouth joining us.

Some events are ticketed, some are drop in and all are completely FREE.
