Join us for a dynamic masterclass led by touring expert Rich Porter. In this immersive workshop, participants will delve into the intricate world of concert touring, learning invaluable skills to tackle the challenges of different venues and evolving setlists. Enabling users with creative problem-solving, this masterclass equips programmers with the tools they need to thrive on the road.
Throughout the workshop, you will be presented with real-world challenges faced by touring programmers, including venue limitations and on-the-fly changes to performances with Designer. Learn how to adapt and innovate to deliver unforgettable shows, all while staying true to the creative vision of your artist and of your own artistry with Disguise.
1-Day Structure:
Morning Sessions (9:30am - 12pm):
Introduction and Icebreakers: An introduction to tutor Rich Porter, to fellow participants and to set the stage for a day of immersive learning.
Venue Touring: Explore the challenges posed by different venues, from rigging limitations to spatial constraints. Gain insight into how to adapt your approach to each unique setting.
Timecode demonstration: Dive into timecode programming with a live example from Rich, explaining how he tackles on-the-fly adjustments with time limitations.
Afternoon Sessions (1pm - 5pm):
Pixel Mapping and Pre-production: Learn the art of pixel mapping and how to structure your project for concert and touring environments. Discover techniques for optimizing visuals and overcoming technical hurdles.
Building Adaptability into Your Show: Explore mapping strategies for building flexibility into your show design, ensuring smooth transitions and effortless adjustments on the fly.
Setlist Changes: Master the art of adapting to last-minute changes in setlists and incorporating new tracks seamlessly into your performance.
Q&A Session: Wrap up the day with an interactive Q&A session, where participants can seek clarification, share insights, and engage with Rich and fellow attendees.
