To commemorate the launch of the<a href="https://violetsimon.co.uk/2023/03/06/disruptors-issue-2-women-challenging-the-status-quo/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"> second issue</a> of our magazine-book series, <a href="https://violetsimon.co.uk/product-category/magazine/disruptors-issue-2/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Disruptors</a> which launches on International Women’s Day - March 8th 2023, we have put together a launch reception event to celebrate women all over the world.Disruptors series shines a light on stories of women from all walks of life going against the grain, challenging the status quo in their spheres of influence. The second issue features stories from over 60 women including Golda Rosheuvel (cover star), Cate Sevilla, Maya Oppenheim, Natasha Devon MBE, Shani Dhanda, Lydia Amoah, Bijna Kotak Dasani MBE, Bhutila Karpoche, Pip Jamieson, Atinuke Awe, Seyi Akiwowo, Barbara Serra, Alice Dearing, Sereena Abbassi and a host of other incredible women.The launch event will feature three (3) panel discussions, talks and a networking session. Some panellists/speakers have been featured in Disruptors. This event will place women at the centre of their stories, and hopefully, help amplify the importance of storytelling and equitable representation. Rebecca has also spent time in government working in tech, as well as crisis response during the pandemic. Rebecca is passionate about driving positive change for women, undertaking this at a macro level through her role as Girlguiding ambassador for London and the South East, attending the UN Commission on the Status of Women, and every day through coaching and mentoring and angel investing in female-founded start-ups. Jolawn VictorVice President and UK Country Manager at Intuit.Jolawn Victor is Vice President and UK Country Manager at Intuit. Jolawn has over twenty years of engineering, marketing and product experience in multinational environments, having lived and held executive positions in the UK, Australia and the US. Before taking the UK Country Manager role at Intuit, Jolawn was Chief International Officer at Headspace. Based out of the company’s UK office, she led operations including sales, marketing, and partnerships in Headspace’s markets outside the US and Canada. She has also held roles at PepsiCo and General Mills. A native of Minneapolis, MN, Jolawn holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Spelman College, a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, and an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business. Jolawn is a wife of 18 years, a mother of three and fights to rebrand the definition of working motherhood.Natasha Devon MBE Natasha is an author, activist and radio host. She delivers presentations and conducts research throughout the world on mental health, body image, gender and social equality. Natasha is the founder of the Mental Health Media Charter, a patron for No Panic and an ambassador for The Reading Agency. She has a weekly radio show on LBC. As a communications consultant specialising in creative, cultural and community-led projects, Mireille has worked with Punch Records, BYP Network, and ShoutOut Network. She is a trustee of Migrateful and on the advisory board for Africa Writes.Mireille is the author of Timelines from Black History and a contributing writer to Timelines of Everyone, The Black History Book and Migrations. Her essay, ‘Why Passivity Will No Longer Do’ is published in the Feminist Book Society’s anthology, This Is How We Come Back Stronger.Scarlett V ClarkFounder and CEO of Smart Girl TribeScarlett V Clark MA is the award-winning founder of Smart Girl Tribe, the UK’s number one female empowerment organisation. Sereena currently sits on a Board of Directors for Bristol Cable and a Board of Advisors for the Patchwork Foundation and Pretty Green PR. Confident and Killing It is a purpose-driven organisation and community that wakes women up to their worth so they can be confident, and unstoppable and dare to live the life they truly desire. Through engaging and practical workshops and media, Tiwalola equips women with the tools they need to overcome fear and self-doubt, programme their minds for success and take action in life. Her first book Confident and Killing It was published by HarperCollins in July this year, to great acclaim.
