About this event

This face-to-face session supports IOE students who are undertaking their dissertation and need support in creating their search strategy. We will focus on conducting an initial scoping search and developing keywords for topic searching.

Please note that this session is suitable for students in education, sociology and related areas.

We will cover:

  • Developing your strategy and keywords for literature searching.
  • Advanced searching in UCL Explore.
  • Where to get more support with your search.

By the end of the session you will know:

  • How to use advanced search techniques to focus your search, e.g. Boolean operators, phrase searching and truncation.
  • What additional support UCL Library Services can provide.

This is a hands-on, face-to-face session. Please note that the Library Teaching Room in the IOE Library does not have PCs. You are welcome to bring your own laptop/tablet or to borrow one from the library before the session.

Students are encouraged to attend this session before attending the Dissertation Support for IOE students: advanced search strategies training.
