Diverse Workforce, Stronger Tech: Practical Ways to Diversify

Generation's mission is to train, coach and support people into life-changing careers that would otherwise be inaccessible and provide employers with the diverse and highly-skilled, motivated talent they need.We are a UK registered charity, part of a network of global Generation organisations, originally born out of McKinsey and Co. Through our unique approach we also solve a wide range of employer challenges—skilled talent shortages, poor job performance, lack of diversity, and high turnover. We have placed over 40,000 people into roles (many of whom have suffered some form of adversity), working with over 4,000 employer partners to date across 14 countries and 26 professions.Generation UK&I is currently running a range of job-specific tech programmes with partners including Amazon Web Services, Multiverse and Infinity Works, as well as programmes supporting people into healthcare through the NHS and into Green jobs.

This session will give you practical ideas on how you can increase diversity within your organisation.

Generation UK&I are hosting this session in collaboration with Aire Logic and Diverse &amp; Equal as part of the Leeds Digital Festival.In this session, we will discuss and give you ideas on how to broaden your access to diverse talent and so build a stronger business and sector for the city - offering solutions within the context of low diversity rates in the Leeds tech sector, high unemployment, and the high profile diversity and inclusion agenda.Agenda: 1.30-35: Welcome and Introduction 1.35-55: Diverse &amp; Equal founder, Annette Joseph, will talk about the importance of diversity within tech and how organisations can embed cultures that embrace and celebrate difference. Annette will share insights from the Leeds Racial Diversity in Tech project and discuss what to consider when building an inclusive culture.1.55-2.15: Neal Jackson, Principal Consultant from Aire Logic, a leading health &amp; care tech consultancy, will share their experience on becoming more diverse as an organisation, what they are doing, and the impact it is making on their business and culture.2.15-2.25: Jess Sewter, Regional Director for Generation UK&I will explain how Generation can provide access to diverse, highly-trained, entry level talent from across the region to support with diversity &amp; inclusion and recruitment. 2.25-30 Questions, thank you and close.NB: This session will be followed by an in person event in Leeds City Centre (venue tbc) at 5-6.30pm for more real life stories and case studies, plus networking. All welcome.
