The streets of Glasgow are changing.Do you want to learn more about why our streets are being designed the way they are?<a href="https://visibilityscotland.org.uk/" title="https://visibilityscotland.org.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Visibility Scotland</a>, <a href="https://www.swsct.co.uk/" title="https://www.swsct.co.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">South West Scotland Cycle Training</a> and <a href="https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/" title="https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Glasgow City Council</a> have worked collaboratively to design and roll out free, supportive training and guidance regarding proposed or recently developed urban streetscapes. This training allows for an open and honest conversation about streetscape design delivered by visual impairment and cycling experts. Getting streetscape design right and communicating the changes effectively with the local community is essential. Communication and consultation must be accessible to ensure that everyone's voice is heard and considered. Effective community consultation empowers people to participate and embrace change, leading to increased feelings of safety and better access and use of urban amenities. Training will be interactive and immersive, and the two-hour session will include:<ul><li>Awareness raising on disability with a particular emphasis on vision impairment and visually impaired or blind travelers</li><li>Human Rights</li><li>Accessible communication</li><li>Street changes: what makes effective street design for people with visual impairment</li><li>Training on the Highway Code and how the streetscape should be used by people cycling</li><li>Awareness of The Highway Code with a focus on the hierarchy of responsibility</li><li>Consideration of other road users</li><li>An understanding of your responsibility for the safety of others</li></ul>The Woodlands Community space has accessible toilets and accessible parking.
