An introduction to domestic abuse and sexual violence for those who have had no or little, previous training or previous professional experience in domestic abuse and sexual violence. This course and is designed for people who work indirectly with people affected by domestic abuse or as an introduction to our level 2 course
Covered within this half day course is an introduction to:
- What Domestic abuse and sexual violence is including the link with CSE
- The impact that abuse has on victims and to be able to recognise the signs & indicators
- Stalking, harassment and honour based abuse
- Information Sharing
- How to respond appropriately to victims and signposting them to specialist support
At the foundation of all DASV training is an understanding and awareness of controlling and coercive behaviour in an intimate or family relationship.
This training is only available free to individuals who work and/or reside in Cornwall & Isles of Scilly, United Kingdom.
Online Training Etiquette:
- Allow yourself extra time when joining to debug any issues. Attendees joining after the safety and caution briefing cannot be admitted.
- Cameras on is a requirement.
- Due to the sensitive nature of the training, it is important that the training is not overheard by others. If you are sharing a space, please use headphones.
- Protect your time for learning, do not undertake other work while on the training.
- No smoking or vaping on screen.
- Support each other’s learning and contribute to the group where you can.
Booking Conditions:
This training is funded only for individuals who work and/or reside in Cornwall & Isles of Scilly, United Kingdom. If you are booking with an address outside of Cornwall, please contact us via email at saferfuturestraining@barnardos.org.uk in advance to ensure your booking is not cancelled. Out of county bookings will be cancelled without warning. However , If you would like this training for your team, we would be happy to discuss your requirements.
Training will start promptly at the time specified, with a safety and caution briefing. Therefore, late attendees will not be admitted, and you will be marked as a non-attendee. This is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all attendees.
If you will not be able to attend the training, please cancel in advance. The training is popular, and we often have long waitlists. Please do not waste your funded space. Cancellations can be made through your Eventbrite account, or via 'Manage my booking' on the original booking confirmation. Non-attendance and failure to cancel your booking will result in an email sent to your line manager with details of the missed session, and the commissioning team will be made aware of repeat non-attendance.
By booking a space on training, you understand that your booking information will be shared with Cornwall Council, commissioners, and funding providers as part of funding requirements.
You do not have permission to record the training. A link to resources will be included in the training, and post course resources sent out afterwards.
