Event description
A talk with the artist Donna Mann, plus special guest speakers, to accompany the exhibition Donna Mann: Reckless Behaviour

About this Event

This event is free to attend and open to everyone.

This a free special evening talk event hosted by the artist, Donna Mann, and the Curator, with special speakers, including Professor Martin Kemp, Professor Roberto Salguero-Gomez, and Professor Morten Kringelbach . The gallery will be open prior to the talk commencing.

Discover more about Donna Mann's artwork and her research at large. Debate with the experts how we as humans regard survival and death; how we are driven to alter our behaviour in order to keep living and to deal with passing on.

In relation to the exhibition Reckless Behaviour , the talk will consider the concept of ‘Thanatos’ – the innate death drive, an impulse to engage in risky and self- destructive behaviour – which Mann’s artwork references in the form of two creatures: the apocalyptic pale horse and the moth driven towards the light which could ultimately lead to its demise. Explore how we as humans construct our own realities of living whilst battling with our inherent natural urges, uncovering the dichotomies of survival.

To help us manage number please sign up to attend.

The gallery and exhibition will be open prior to the talk, and there will be a Q&A session as part of talk.
