Based on the iconic novel, Dracula follows the ancient Transylvanian count as he moves to England to prey on new victims. Focusing on the struggles of its two of its most compelling characters, Mina and Lucy, as they reach adulthood and are about to marry, the play explores what drives Dracula’s victims ‘to invite him in’ and consent to be fed on.
Acclaimed poet and playwright Liz Lochhead's adaptation stays refreshingly close to Bram Stoker's classic novel, while it "grapples with contemporary preoccupations: gender roles, the horrors of the 20th century, the battles between faith and reason, madness and sanity, democracy and aristocracy... an erudite revisiting of a primal myth'."(The Stage)
The play will consist of two acts with an interval in between.
