Draw, Write, Connect
Event Information
About this Event
Join us on Wednesday 25th of November at 7:00pm for a fabulous online fundraising event where we are coming together to share community, creativity and help raise funds for charities fighting for gender equality.
ArtistAnd, Women Connect & Women of the Wick have joined powerful forces to bring to you an Online Mindfulness Drawing & Poetry evening. All you need is your wonderful selves and simple tools which you will already have at home.
During this donation-only 1:30/ 2-hour session, we will look at how to draw Mandalas as a way to connect with our inner selves, without the pressure of a classroom environment. You will be shown step-by-step on how to create your very own unique Mandala with the option to add colour if you so wish! The event will also consist of a short poetry session. Together, we’ll gather tools to unleash our creative sides and have fun whilst doing so!
Everything you need to know:
But, what if I’ve never drawn before?
Don’t worry. We actively encourage beginners to come along and see what drawing can do for you. We want you to enjoy the process and get creative together without any pressure.
What To Expect
We would kindly ask that cameras are switched on during the session for all those attending so that we can really get a sense of community and connection. These workshops are inclusive so don’t be alarmed if we ask you to show your drawing! We want to celebrate and embrace everyone’s creative side.
Poetry Warm Up - Poetry is Not Luxury
Immerse yourself in the flow of words! After a short meditation, we will dive into the theme of solidarity with a free-flow poetry workshop. Participants are encouraged to read their text with others, however sharing is not compulsory. No previous writing experience required!
Mandala Making
We will start with a warm up drawing to practice our shapes, and then a demonstration on how to begin our Mandala’s. Then the session will focus on finishing our drawings, followed by some show and tell to conclude the event. Throughout the session, there will be music carefully curated by the organisers and some chit chat so feel free to ask questions, be nosey and get involved!
What Do You Need?
Paper & Pencil (you can use a biro or fine liner for going over the lines if you so wish - sharpies if you are careful.)
Optional: Any coloured pencils if you have them at home and want to make your Mandala burst to life.
How Much?
This event is based on a pay what you can system. We are taking donations no matter how little or small you can afford. We care passionately about helping others, and we also understand that the current climate might mean that you have less yourself. In order to make sure as many of you as possible can attend, we are keeping this donation fee open!
