What will the session include?

During this 1hr session we will explore the idea that drawing can be used as a tool for thinking as a form of self-analysis.

We will do several simple drawing experiments; drawing everyday objects, exploring the visual filed, drawing sensations, and using drawing as analysis.

This workshop is suitable for total beginners as well as those with more experience, in particular those interested in using drawing as an aid to think through problems [work or life-related] and boost creativity.

Drawing is a skill anyone can develop, but this workshop is about using drawing as a tool for thinking. If we stop worrying about whether or not a drawing is 'good' or 'bad' we can move forwards, and get into a habit of using it, and the skill will develop naturally.

What materials will you need?

The only materials needed are some paper - any paper and a drawing implement. A biro will be fine, but you are welcome to use any materials you like.

Who will be delivering the session?

Antony Hall is a trans-disciplinary artist and educator whose work is inspired by science. His work takes the form of workshop-like experiences and installations. He is currently a PhD candidate at MMU studying the relationship between art and experimental psychology, exploring multisensory perceptual illusion.

As an artist who works with science, drawing plays a crucial role in Antony's practice. He uses drawing for working through problems and ideas, as an extension to his thinking process. Over lock-down Antony has been reconnecting with drawing practice; enjoying drawing objects and people.
