Drawing Sound: Workshop with afromerm + abi asisa
Overview
Join artists afromerm and abi asisa for a workshop exploring how drawings can be translated into sound, and how sound can be made into drawings. Inspired in part by Daphne Oram’s Oramics machine, afromerm and abi asisa will lead participants in an event of collaborative sound making, open to any enthusiastic sound makers. Participants will leave with an introductory understanding of graphic scores, as well as new connections with other sound-makers.
Participants must be 18+, women, trans, non-binary or gender non-conforming, and open to creating sound and drawings with a group of people. You are welcome to bring along an instrument (or any object that could be used to make sound) that you’d feel comfortable sharing with the group during the workshop!
Space is limited and tickets are £7 concessions, £11 general access. Please get in touch with marcella@nonclassical.co.uk if the cost is a barrier to your access.
These workshops are supported by Arts Council England National Lottery.
