Drawing the Expressive Face & Figure

Join us to make drawings full of feeling in our Drawing the Expressive Face & Figure workshop.

In the morning, our model will move around the room in seated and standing poses, as we explore expressive mark, concentrated looking, and understanding the figure through capturing the whole body. Our model will be clothed, and we will take notice of how clothes shape and create feeling.

In the afternoon, she will settle into a long pose, as we focus on the face, to draw an expressive portrait. The knowledge our hand and eye gain in the morning will enable us to make drawings alive with a deeper study of the figure, costume and expression.

This is a taught class, open to both practicing artists and beginners. Tutor Hannah Murgatroyd teaches with a light touch, aiding you in uncovering your way to natural, attentive, evocative drawing.

Held at Bath Artists' Studios on Saturday 7th March 2026 between 10-4. Materials suggestions and travel info will be emailed on confirmation of place.
