Drawing Through Sound Workshop
Join artist Claire Zakiewicz for an exploration of drawing emerging from immersive auditory stimuli.
This 2 hour workshop offers participants an immersive exploration of the relationship between sound and drawing. It introduces a reflective and intuitive approach that begins with a short guided meditation to settle the body and focus attention on the present moment and the sounds within the space. Participants will then take part in a series of drawing exercises that respond directly to environmental sounds and music.
Through experimentation with gestural marks, signs, symbols, and layering, attendees will investigate ways that drawings can emerge from auditory stimuli. The session emphasises process over outcome, encouraging each participant to discover their own visual language while cultivating a deeper sensitivity to sound as a creative catalyst. By the end of the workshop, participants will have produced a set of drawings that reflect their perceptual, emotional, and metaphorical responses to the sonic environment, as well as a broader understanding of how sound can function as a generative tool in picture-making.
This workshop welcomes all levels and provides a supportive, contemplative, and creatively expansive environment.
Please note all materials will be provided.
