Join sweet-thang zine and Black Geographies for an evening of poetry and music to celebrate the launch of sweet-thang issue 8: Dreaming.

Issue 8 is sweet-thang’s biggest issue yet, taking you on a journey through different worlds as 21 artists explore what dreaming means to them.

On Friday the 9th of May, sweet-thang zine and Black Geographies will be bringing you soundscapes, music and readings, capturing the energy of ‘Dreaming’ as a form of planning/freedom-making/world-building.

You’ll also be able to buy a copy of issue 8, hot-off-the-press.

Expect dreamy vibes, delicious drinks and a sweet treat !

About sweet-thang zine:

sweet-thang zine, founded by Zoe Thompson, is an arts and literary zine and community press publishing work by Black creatives worldwide.

About Black Geographies:

Black Geographies is a conceptual landscape of poetry & music that focuses on the possibilities of language as a tool of self-definition/invention.

In issue 8, you’ll find poems about choosing life and the necessity of weaving dreams and ancestral calls into reality. There’s speculative fiction inspired by a family photo at a New Years party in 1960s Congo, and a story that charts the intertwined dreams of two lovers. You’ll read about theories of radical chaos and the desperate need for interconnected resilience through the lens of jazz modalities. You’ll meet on the dancefloor, in the cinema, in bed, in nature, at an altar.

We have have set aside a portion of free tickets, please email sweetthanginfo@gmail.com if you'd like one.
