About this event

Birthing Your Own Medicine Drum: A Sacred Crafting Ceremony

Step through a sacred threshold of transformation and return to an ancient craft—bringing forth life into your own medicine drum.

In this soulful ceremonial gathering, you will weave your blessings, intentions, and prayers into the creation of a sacred drum. This is more than crafting an instrument; it is a profound journey of honouring your story, deepening your connection to spirit, and calling home an ally for your healing and homecoming.

Held at within the Sacred Roundhouse at The Clophill Centre around the warmth of a fire, we will move through a day of ceremony, connection, craft and deep ritual work.

The spirit of your drum is ready to find its way home to you. Are you ready to listen and heed the call?

The Journey

Opening Ceremony – We begin by calling in the directions, elements, and guides, opening a space for deep intention and transformation.

Selection Ritual – Your hoop and hide will call you forth as their guardian. Through drumming and blessing rituals, we will honour these sacred materials, offering prayers of gratitude for their journey.

Crafting Portal – With reverence, you will prepare your hide, cut your drum head and lacing, and weave your prayers into the birthing of your drum and beater.

Integration & Vision Journey – Once your drum has been brought to life, we will enter a deep visioning process to meet its spirit, uncover its purpose, and receive its wisdom.

"Our ancient foremothers have always used their hands to measure out their journeys and to pass on information and wisdom and secrets to the women who follow in their footsteps. Through the things that they made, through the twist and wrap and bind of their skilled fingers, they captured a feeling, an insight, a message for their daughters, a moment in time. Now the primordial hands of our mothers enfold our own as we in turn create the things that describe our lives and enrich our journeys and anchor the landscapes of our souls. As our fingers engage in the old crafts of our mothers, we also touch the mystical traditions of women's work. Of course, the work of wise hands may surprise us, for most of the magic lies in the creating rather than the perfection of the end result" ~Carolyn Hillyer
