Overview

Join us for a morning of etching inspired by artists from the Royal Scottish Academy in our collection.

In 2026 the Royal Scottish Academy celebrates its 200th anniversary with RSA200: Celebrating Together. This partnership project will bring hundreds of artists, partners, galleries and institutions together for an extraordinary year of exhibitions, events and performances.

In the past, etching used acid, beeswax and a sharp point to create an image. We will work with less toxic and harmful materials than in the past. We will work on perspex to create an image to print. We will use a small printing press to produce an etching by the end of the session. Places are limited for this class. Suitable for age 12+. All materials are provided.

Tutor Maeve Dixon is West Dunbartonshire Council's Arts Development Officer. She studied Printmaking at Glasgow School of Art and continues to create prints at home. She passes on her passion for print to communities so that they are able to create their own masterpieces!
