BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!  Dundee Improv Workshops (20 hours)Dates:  Saturday mornings for eight weeks, beginning 23 April 2022 (10 am - 12.30 pm). Venue: Downstairs at Braes Pub , Perth Road, Dundee* Cost: £129.00 (+ Eventbrite fee)Why Improv, Why Now? Without a doubt there's never been a better time to try Improv. We need to be flexible and understand how to form and maintain positive human connections. Improv skills can help with all of this!So, this Spring, try our fear-busting fun and friendly 8-week course of workshops to boost your confidence, creativity and spontaneity. We will use professional training techniques, exercises and games to fire your imagination and progressively explore and build skills to develop teamwork, listening, making and accepting offers, character and emotion work, creating scenes and stories step-by-step in a structured, friendly and supportive environment. All welcome (18+)Myth-busting! You don’t have to be fast, funny or a natural performer to enjoy and be good at Improv. We each bring a brick and - together - we build a cathedral.“You can't make a mistake when you improvise" - Patti SmithWho is this for?  Everyone! People with experience of Improv and those who've never tried it before: actors, non-actors, performers, comedians, and absolutely anyone who wants to improve their confidence, relationships and communication skills. Constantly changing and trying new things, this set of workshops will also be suitable for those who've attended our previous Improv events. In line with Scottish Government regulations please wear a mask (unless exempt) to walk around the venue. In the space, workshop rules will apply i.e. when stationary, you are able to remove your mask if you feel comfortable to do so. Hand sanitizer will be provided. (Please be advised that should further restrictions be re-introduced, we will have other options e.g. switching to run remotely on Zoom.) If you have COVID-19 symptoms: please do not attend class. Tutor: An experienced actor, director and teacher, Elaine Newton graduated from RSAMD in Glasgow (now the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland). She also trained in film acting in Los Angeles and at the Bilingual Acting Workshop in Paris, using American models for naturalistic acting. In addition, she has trained in London, Paris, Rotterdam and Glasgow with renowned practitioners including Mike Alfreds, Scott Williams, Amy Werba, Nadine George, Jo Estill, Mark Westbrook. She did her Improv training at the world-renowned Second City Improv Chicago and and attended workshops with Mark Beltzman in London and The Improfessionals in Paris. After teaching acting, voice and movement in Paris and Strasbourg, she established The Acting Lab in her hometown of Dundee six years ago – a space for innovative actor training. Her international training has given her the knowledge base and breadth of experience to provide students with support and inspiration along with structured, practical acting skills and professional techniques from which great confidence can be gained and transferred to any aspect of life.She runs Acting Courses, Speaking with Confidence workshops, Improvisation for Business workshops and voice coaching. She also offers One-to-One Coaching for acting and for public speaking.
