Description
In our series of DWP Digital ‘tech talks’ as part of Digital Leaders Week, we'll be demonstrating how we’re tackling some of the UK’s biggest digital challenges.
Join us to see some examples of data visualisation which enable evidence-based decision making in the development and improvement of digital services in the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
Data Scientists Penny Pegman and Paul Ainsworth will demonstrate how they have used R Studio (open source data analysis software) to communicate insights from data for agile project development teams.
The session will cover:
- A demo showing how they use the 'rmarkdown' package to create html web page reports with customised features.
- Another demo showing how they use the 'flexdashboard' package to create dashboards to show key summary metrics
They will then share code to enable you to produce your own outputs if you have R Studio installed on your device, with various options that you can experiment with.
For those without R Studio on their device the team will lead an interactive session to show more of the customisable features.
We will also be LIVE STREAMING this event for those who are unable to attend. To view the live stream, simply sign up and you will be sent a link to use on the day.
If you are watching via the live stream, you will still be able to submit questions for our team to answer. You can do this in one of two ways:
· Using YouTube’s chat feature (you will need to be signed in to YouTube to do this)
· Through Twitter using the hashtag #DWPDataVis
We’ll do our best to answer as much as possible during the live stream, but depending on volume we may not be able to respond to every question.
