Positive Dyslexia Ltd was set up in 2016 by Katrina Cochrane previously the Head of Education and Policy at the BDA. Katrina is an experienced assessor, trainer , tutor and teacher. She is currently on the BDA Accreditation Board and is an APC reviewer for the BDA. She runs successful virtual Masterclasses and the Liverpool Conference, In 2023 there will also be a joint conference with Edge Hill University,

Suitable for anyone with an interest in Dyscalculia or Maths difficulties in Dyslexia.Date: 3rd December 2021Time : 10.00 am to 4.00 pmOur world class speakers include Professor Mahesh Sharma, Professor Steve Chinn, Pete Jarrett and Judy Hornigold.Professor Mahesh Sharma is the founder and president of The Center for Teaching and Learning Mathematics, Inc. of Framingham, Massachusetts and Berkshire Mathematics in Berkshire, England, which facilitates his work in the UK and Europe. He is the former Cambridge College president and served for thirty years as professor of mathematics education to undergraduate and graduate students. Internationally, he is known for his groundbreaking work in math education and math learning problems, particularly, dyscalculia and other specific learning disabilities in mathematics. Professor Sharma is an author, teacher, teacher-trainer, researcher, editor and publisher, education consultant, and public lecturer. For thirty years, Sharma edited and published Focus on Learning Problems in Mathematics, an international interdisciplinary mathematics journal with readership in 90 countries and The Math Notebook, a practical journal for teachers and parents devoted to successful teaching and learning for all students.Steve Chinn is an expert teacher working on dyscalculia and maths learning difficulties.In 1981 Steve moved from a successful teaching career in mainstream education to work with students who had severe specific learning difficulties. Little was known back then about dyscalculia and mathematical learning difficulties, so Steve became a pioneer teacher and researcher in the field. He has written award winning books and resources, founded an award-winning specialist school and lectured/trained teachers in 30 countries. His methods are pragmatic, successful and based on research and vast experience.Pete Jarrett is the Chair of the BDA Dyscalculia Committee and founder of Tutorum Learning and Assessment which provides consultancy around digital curriculum design, barriers to learning, maths learning and SEND. He is passionate about supporting learners who struggle with mathematics and learning in general. &quot;As a dyslexic myself I appreciate how difficult life in an education system that has little tolerance for individual difference can be. For this reason, after many years in the classroom, I became an AMBDA qualified teacher and assessor specialising in maths learning difficulties and dyscalculia. This has been, and remains, a key focus of my own work&quot;. He is visiting Professor to the University of Derby. Judy Hornigold is a trainer for the BDA providing training for teachers, TAs, SENCOs, and parents in the fields of dyslexia and dyscalculia.She has written several books and articles on dyslexia and dyscalculia, and continues to create teaching and learning resources. She also presents workshops and lectures at special needs conferences in the UK and internationally.Judy is a trainer for Maths No Problem, which was the first organisation to introduce Singapore teaching methods to the UK.Further details to be announced.
