The Leonids an abundant meteor shower associated with the comet Tempel–Tuttle, which are also known for their spectacular meteor storms that occur about every 33 years.
The Leonids their name from the location of their radiant in the constellation Leo as the meteors appear to radiate from that point in the sky.
Event Information:
We look forward to welcoming you to our space operations centre based on the former RAF Alconbury airfield to observe back scatter reflections from the peaks of November’s strongest meteor showers.
Our open observations are fun evenings where you will get the chance to experience a working radio observatory exploring several different techniques to gather data from meteor observations.
We provide refreshments and free parking for all our guests.
