This edition features:

Si Paton

Si Paton is a good kid really, just a little bit misunderstood. Discouraged by music from certain family members and music teachers (I guess it was from the time when I was 10 and discovered how to play scratch tones on the violin and everyone hated it). He kept at it due to being both delusional and stubborn, truly the greatest gift a musician can have. Choosing bass guitar as his weapon of choice and taking the cathartic visceral attitude of rock music, the spontaneous earnestness of free jazz, and the curiosity of the avant-garde, he has spent the past 16 years performing and writing experimental music, taking revenge in the process on school bullies and people that told him to write something “nice and pleasant – please Simon! Just one song! You’re actually quite good when you play properly!!” He collaborates with oddballs, misfits and dreamers, making those who “get it” feel less isolated, whilst punishing those who don’t.

Jonathan Higgins

I am a composer and performer based in London, England. My music focuses on exploring how noise can be utilised as a creative and generative tool. I work across a variety of different media, including fixed electroacoustic music, instrumental music, live electronics and sound installations. I perform regularly across the UK as an improvisor using a custom setup of hand modified CD players. I have recently completed a PhD in Composition at City, University of London and I have previously studied at the University of Sheffield. My music has been performed, prized and published both nationally and internationally.

Shiell-Thompson-Wilson

Old time friends and long-time collaborators, this trio brings a baltering mix of electronics (Stephen Shiell), cello (Ian Thompson) and percussion (Richard Wilson), dynamic, shape shifting and nebulous.

Rob Flint/FLOMO

Rob Flint explores heightened or overwhelming sensory experience and the idea of ‘voice’, in spoken, written, printed, projected form in galleries, screenings, music and performance venues. The work uses rhythm and repetition to find out where information dissolves into sensation.

FLOMO is a project Rob set up to perform with video image and sound, using software and analogue tools to create spacious and dream-like combinations of pattern, rhythm, and tone.
