Early Years Prevent Training

The Link website is funded by theChildren Learning and Skills Directoratein Slough Borough Council. It is aimed at current and future education professionals in Slough, particularly teachers and early years practitioners.We have a strong and vibrant education system in Slough characterised by good educational outcomes for children and a growing spirit of collegiality andpartnership workingacross schools and between schools and the LA.We hope that the Link will become a powerful tool to strengthen the education system in Slough by supporting the communication of education priorities and facilitating collaboration across schools and settings.  Please visit our website for further information.

This training has been brought to you by Slough Borough Council's Early Years Childcare Development Co-ordinator, Clare Thompson, for the attention of Early Years Practitioners and Childminders.
This training is free and you can book your place by selecting "register" on the right hand side of the Eventbrite page. Bookings are limited to 3 per setting.  Any bookings cancelled within 7 days of the start of the training will be subject to a £15 cancellation fee.
Prevent should be seen as part of the existing safeguarding framework.
While it remains rare for children and young people to become involved in terrorist activity, young people from an early age can be exposed to terrorist &amp; extremist influences or prejudiced views.  As with other forms of safeguarding strategies, early intervention is always preferable.
Slough Borough Council is working with other local partners, families and communities, play a key role in ensuring young people and their communities are safe from the threat of terrorism.
 Aims of Prevent Training

Think about who may be vulnerable to Extremism and Radicalisation – all forms;

See why some people are able to influence and manipulate others to commit crimes;
</LI>
<LI>
Recognise when a vulnerable individual may be in need of help;
</LI>
<LI>
And be clear on what help and support looks like in this area, and who you should turn to if you have concerns; and  
</LI>
<LI>
Look at the threats, risks and vulnerabilities.
</LI>
