Easter Baking: Kids Cooking Classes

Roots to Bytes workshops invite children aged 8–12 to discover the joy of cooking from scratch through hands-on experiences in the kitchen. Each session introduces young cooks to new ingredients, techniques, and flavours as they prepare dishes ranging from fresh pasta to baked goods and other seasonal projects.Along the way, children develop practical kitchen skills, confidence, and curiosity, gaining a deeper understanding of how food is made. Most importantly, they experience the satisfaction of creating something themselves and enjoying the rewards of their own work.

A fun hands-on baking class for kids where they'll make soft, spiced hot cross buns from scratch and take home their own freshly baked batch

Along the way they’ll discover how enriched dough works, how to tell when the dough is properly kneaded and ready for proofing, and how to shape evenly sized buns. We’ll finish by piping the classic cross and glazing the buns fresh from the oven. The class is relaxed and beginner-friendly, and everyone will leave with a box of freshly baked buns and the skills to make them again at home.
