Overview

Create professional-looking flyers without needing design experience.

This is a FREE workshop with limited places available to keep the session practical and interactive. Our workshops are designed to be friendly, informal and practical, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and learn from each other.

Promoting your events and activities is important, but designing flyers can often feel time-consuming and overwhelming - especially when you’re already busy delivering services in your community.

This hands-on workshop will introduce you to Canva and show you how to create simple, professional - looking flyers without needing design experience. The focus will be on creating templates you can reuse again and again, so you spend less time designing and more time doing the work that matters.

By the end of the session, you’ll have practical tools you can immediately use to promote your projects and activities.

In this FREE workshop you will learn:

  • How to create a simple flyer template that reflects your group
  • Easy ways to adapt templates for different events or activities
  • Practical tips to make your flyers clear, engaging and eye-catching
  • How to add QR codes so people can quickly find your website or social pages

This workshop is ideal for:

  • Community groups and grassroots organisations
  • Small charities and voluntary groups
  • Volunteers responsible for promotion or communications
  • Organisations with limited time or marketing experience

No previous design, marketing or social media experience is needed.

What to Bring

  • Laptop
  • Phone (for storytelling session)
  • Any flyers, logos or photos from your organisation (if available)

Note: There are four Social Media and Marketing Workshops focused on specific areas. This is the second of the four. You can attend individual workshops that interest you or all four. Please note you will have to book the workshops individually by visiting our Eventbrite page.

Eligibility Notice:Our events and training are intended for citizens, community groups, and organisations based in or working with citizens in the Edgbaston constituency (Bartley Green, Harborne, Edgbaston, North Edgbaston and Quinton wards). Attendees from elsewhere in Birmingham may be considered on an individual basis, subject to the availability of spaces. Bookings from those outside Birmingham will not be considered unless the individual or organisation is directly delivering activities or services in Edgbaston or can clearly demonstrate benefits to Edgbaston residents.
