Secondary school staff training event on mental health issues in young people arising from the climate and ecological crises.
About this event
There has been a lot in the press recently about eco-anxiety, particularly among young people. Students are striking from school and demanding governments and people in power do more to address the climate and ecological crises. Are you a secondary school teacher, member of staff or counsellor who would like to know more about how to address teenagers’ concerns and questions? What should you say or not say? How can you allay the concerns of parents and colleagues? Who and what is out there to help you? Hear Caroline Hickman (Psychotherapist & Researcher, University of Bath & Climate Psychology Alliance) and Clover Hogan (20-year-old climate activist, researcher on eco-anxiety and founder of Force of Nature) open up the debate and start us on a journey to helping our students deal with the science and emotions of the largest issue of our time. Our presenters are currently involved in applying their expertise to the mental health of young people living through the current crisis so this event will have particular resonance right now
This event will now take place as an online conference due to coronavirus measures at our school and elsewhere. Places will still be limited and tickets will still be necessary as before. Any tickets already booked will still be valid for the new format. Details will be provided to all participants beforehand on how the virtual event will work.
The £10 participant fee (and Eventbrite admin charge) is to cover costs of running the event. Any excess will be donated to the Hammersmith and Fulham United Charities. Please do contact partnerships@spgs.org if you need any assistance with the ticket fee.
This event is aimed at school staff members and is not designed for students.
