ECSTATICA: Ecstatic Dance & Cacao "THE RESET" @ Soma hŌṃe

Join us in freeflow movement as we dance to shed old layers, let go of what is no longer needed, and begin the year with renewed energy.

ECSTATICA was born in London in 2025 with a bold mission: to share the joy, freedom, and transformational power of Ecstatic Dance with all!

Dance is in our DNA. At ECSTATICA, we believe the freedom to move and dance your own way is a birthright. "Reclaim Your Dancer" is more than just our motto - it’s our invitation to you.

THE RESET

The year 2026 beckons and we meet it with enthusiasm on the dancefloor. But before we can recieve what the new year has in store for us, we must first reset. Reset our minds, and bodies, through somatic release and a return the to the beat. The beat of the music that mirrors the beat of our hearts, both individual and collective. THE RESET is a reminder that whenever we lose our way, we can return to the beat. Through free flow dance (no rules, no choreography) we let go of the old, the outdated, the unnecessary and remember who we are beneath it all.

The year 2025 was the Chinese zodiac year of the snake; a year for shedding off obstacles and blockages, and for careful & strategic planning towards our goals. It comes before the year of the horse, which is expected to be hard, fast and full of momentum. The year of the snake helps us to prepare for the wild year ahead and the many opportunities presented to us. And it's not over yet - we still have the month of January left to make the most of the snake year.

At THE RESET, Facilitator Yasmin will guide a warm-up that will encourage reflection, release and rediscovery. With gentle encouragement, she will guide you into your bodies where your natural propensity for exploration and curiosity will take over. We then move into the ecstatic dance, where Yasmin (aka DJ YASYA) will play a live DJ set. A graduate of the Dance The Medicine DJ School, Yasmin is beyond excited to share stories through music and is honoured to be accompaning you on your dance journey. We finish the dance with the beautiful notes of the handpan by bass legend Rodrigo. Stick around for our tea social at the end and meet your fellow dancers (one of favourite parts of the evening!).

Rodrigo

Playing musical instruments since 11 years of age, Rodrigo has music as his greatest passion in life. Having played in many bands and jams in Brazil and England, he has been focusing on playing electric bass in London’s conscious movement scene, and more recently bringing in the handpan to the practices. Combining his musical skills with his mindfulness and spiritual practices, and understanding that music is medicine, his intention is to use his gifts to enhance people’s experiences on the dance floor, using his presence, intentionality, and the bass’s low frequency, to support their journeys.

What is ECSTATICA?

ECSTATICA is an event, a community, and a vision based on the principles of Ecstatic Dance – a freeform movement practice where participants are taken on a journey through sound. The music starts off slow, gradually builds to a beautiful crescendo of celebratory and energetic rhythms, then gently brings you back down to earth. Unlike other forms of dance, you can move exactly how you want to. Ecstatic dance is all about embracing your true expression in a safe and non-judgemental space.

Often referred to as a "moving meditation," the music and environment encourage you to be with yourself. That's why there are no phones and no talking on the dance floor. Above all, Ecstatic Dance is about community - we dance together, and we have fun together.

To create the best atmosphere, we follow a few simple rules:

✨ No phones

✨ No talking on the dance floor

✨ No intoxicants (drugs, alcohol, smoking) of any kind

Our facilitator will guide you through a warm-up to help you connect with your body and the space before the free-flow dance begins.

Do I need any dance experience?

None at all! Ecstatic Dance is unlike other forms of dance there are no "right" moves, no choreography, and no judgment. You can move however you feel, whether that's fast, slow, or even standing still. You can dance alone or with others (with consent). It’s a safe space where all bodies and all movements are welcome.

Why Cacao?

Cacao is a sacred plant to many Indigenous communities around the world, and the cacao drink has been used in ceremonial settings for centuries. At ECSTATICA, we consider both dance and cacao to be 'medicines' that help people open up and connect with one another, which is why they complement each other so well. It also provides an extra boost of energy for the dance!

Our cacao comes from a cooperative of farmers in the hills of northern Colombia, where the founder of ECSTATICA, Yasmin, spent several months. She saw firsthand how much care and love were poured into the production of cacao, from seed to bar - and is excited to share this with you.

Tickets & timing

Our 'Early Bird' and 'Dance & Cacao' tickets both include cacao in the price. Our 'Dance ticket' does not include cacao. Cacao can be purchased at the event at an additional cost, however there will be a limited amount so we recommend purchasing beforehand to avoid disappointment.

Important information

❗LATEST ENTRY is 7:45 PM. Late entry isn’t possible, as it disrupts the container we create through dance. Thanks for flowing with us on this! ✨

❗Please be aware that the event will feature colourful and occasionally flashing lights. While they will not be strong or strobe lights, they may still affect individuals sensitive to flashing visuals. If you have photosensitivity or epilepsy, please take necessary precautions.

❗Before we begin, the space may be cleansed with incense to create a harmonious energetic field. Incense may also be used at moments throughout the dance. Please let us know if you have any sensitivities to scent.
