Edinburgh Greentech Hackathon
Overview
Please note that this is not a hybrid event, and all participants will need to be in CodeBase Edinburgh on the day of the event.
What on earth happens at a hackathon?
No hacking, tech, or startup experience is required! All you need is curiosity, an open mind, and an interest in tackling some of the most immediate challenges facing Scotland’s natural environment. Whether you’re a student, founder, creative, environmental enthusiast, or simply keen to learn something new, you’ll be right at home.
Working in small, supportive teams, you’ll generate ideas, experiment with solutions, and actually build a rough-and-ready product or service that meets a need. Essentially, a crash course in greentech startup thinking and process!
What can I expect?
Expect a friendly, inclusive atmosphere with short talks on relevant tools and approaches, followed by plenty of time for collaboration. Facilitators and Greentech team members will be on hand throughout the day to help motivate, provide clarity and signpost towards resources - with each group informally presenting their ideas at the end of the event. You’ll leave with new insights, new connections, and a fresh perspective on how quickly a solution can be put together.
Refreshments and a light lunch will be provided.
What should I bring?
Please bring along a laptop/mobile device to research and work from. We will provide any stationery, pens, paper, etc, required. If access to technology is an issue, please let a member of the team know and we'll do our best to support you.
Who will be there?
You will be joined by members of the Greentech community, the wider tech community, and CodeBase staff members.
Where is this taking place?
This session will take place in person at our Edinburgh Hub, 37a Castle Terrace, Edinburgh EH1 2EL on Monday 2nd March 2026. All information on the venue is below.
We look forward to seeing you there!
