Created by fire and ice this landscape has many stories to share; from sacred wells and Beltane beacons to medieval mills and country manors, via seedsmen and bag-pipers.


On this hearty hike, from the Palace of Holyroodhouse to the ancient village of Duddingston, you’ll discover the history and heritage of the area while walking through open parkland full of local flora and fauna.

Start: Holyrood Car Park

Finish: Duddingston Village

Time: approx. 3 hours

Distance: approx. 2 miles / 3km

Terrain: Challenging - mostly rough tracks with some boggy patches and very steep slopes!

PLEASE NOTE: Tour takes place outside and will go ahead come rain or shine, please check the weather forecast and dress appropriately.

Comfortable footwear is also recommended. Maximum group size is 8 people, the tour is given in English and is recommended for ages 16+.
