EEY: I CAN ('T) DO IT! Early Years Growth Mindset concepts & enabling perseverance skills in early educational practice.
Looking at resilience, perseverance and supported learning & development for all children,their positive outcomes and the role of EY practitioners to enable this.

This course is focused around empowering those EY professionals working with young children to develop their practice, provide key CPD reflections or as a refresher on child development related research into excellent Early Years practice - allowing children 0-5 + to thrive and learn.
Recent research and theory will be easily explained into excellent EY practice (s), so that the course is accessible, useful and relevant to enabling excellent provision and practice.

Led by experienced Early Years Teacher Hannah O’Donnell (MA Early Years (MA - Dist), EYTS, Pg Dip Early Years - Dist'), EY trainer (EEY since 2016) & Associate Lecturer (BA Hons - Professional Development/ FdA Early Childhood).
*Understanding of the concept of growth mindset - as regards children's development, potential for growth and outcomes, based on key research.
* Contemporary understanding of how adversity can affect outcomes, linked to psychological development, risk-taking, confidence and later academic / life outcomes
* Basics of young children's development of 'self', autonomy, independence, grit, determination and motivation - linked to potential for later growth and development.
* Exploration of the myths and truths around growth mindset research, application and practice in education and how this links to outcomes in various areas of early development
* Skills of innovation, creativity, resilience, perseverance in the context of growth mindset understanding and Early Years (what might I observe?)
* Growth mindset observed in action at all ages - Trying new things, managing failure, learning from failure and applying knowledge to complete a task, keeping focus on a LT goal
* Practitioner role in enabling growth mindset concepts - in practice and play provision, modelling, feedback, enabling challenge, supporting needs, developing intrinsic motivations for learning (leading own learning) and long term positive outcomes.
*Understanding how an enabling environment, informed by growth mindset understanding can evolve and develop to support unique children to thrive and learn, based on neuroscience and research understanding.
* An opportunity to reflect and apply knowledge to own setting and ask questions.
