Who is the course aimed at?

This Course is suitable for Nursery/ Early Years Practitioners, EY Students, EY Managers, EYTs, Teaching Staff teams, Head Teachers, TA's, Child-minders, Nursery and Preschool Teams, SENDCos and anyone working with young children, 0-5years.

Who are EEY?

EEY aims to offer excellent, inspiring, cost-effective options for CPD, adding value for the practitioner, and overall setting/ school EY pedagogy, as well as focusing on the skills needs of unique children, allowing them to thrive. Since 2016, EEY has been delivering training across the South West to schools, settings, hubs etc, as well as being part of the Play 2 team, holding Early Years conferences and training, based around the power of play in learning. EEY continues to want to enable practitioners and teachers in their practices with young children - in order to allow young children to thrive and learn, based around tangible research, understanding, relevant issues in child development, psychology, educational practice and play to truly fulfil a child's potential.

Tell me more about the course:

Through this course, you will begin to understand the basics of early brain and body childhood development and how this links to healthy and positive outcomes for children in terms of life and learning, in the face of adversity, chronic stress and poor attachments.

Moreover, you will develop a key understanding of supporting vulnerable young children to thrive, as part of positive 'trauma-informed care' practices (ACE's), supporting and enabling positive attachments and relationships, which have the potential to nurture the whole child to thrive and learn.

Recent academic research will enhance your practical knowledge of some of the factors linked to increased stress levels of children (including COVID 19 pandemic related anxiety), to apply within the EY environment, pedagogy, practice and with families, as well as understanding how these changes can positively relate to the educational and life outcomes of unique children.

The course also aims to allow individual reflection upon personal practices, attachments and the concepts of stress, in order to allow for greater reflexivity and thus greater outcomes for the children in your care.

Overall, you will begin to be able to understand, identify and act upon the concepts of chronic stress/ poor attachment presentation in young children , by effectively developing and enhancing your own practice and that of your school or setting to support greater attachments/ relationships and reduce anxiety responses in order to enable young children to thrive and learn.

The course will allow you to practice reflexivity and triple loop thinking, focused on your care of individual children, by using up to date research-led evidence linking to well-being, skills and academic outcomes.

Feedback on past training:

Great to have the information in straight-forward language'

‘The course was fab and the hand-out EXCELLENT as I will now be able to go over this while I am on my apprenticeship.’

'Extremely knowledgeable and interesting.'

'Great for simple ideas.'

'How current gaps in our provision for the above mean that we may not have either recognised the importance of these or expected too much higher functioning too soon and so we need to plan for this in a different time of expectations level.'

'We were presented with current up to date research into best and desirable practice with underlying child development information which put everything into context.'

'Very cost effective for single delegates in that the very low charge will have a high impact on provision and more so once cascade training is disseminated. I have been on 2 courses and would definitely attend further sessions.'

'Promotes new ideas and gets you thinking about your own setting.'

'I've come away with knowledge I can implement straight into practice as well as my studies.'

'It exceeded expectation as it was very informative and there were really useful handouts which suggested further reading and research.'

'I would recommend it as colleagues do not always appreciate the importance of play to learning.'

'Very enthusiastic and lots of really useful information!'

We look forward to welcoming you soon.
